Story

Thermal Flask

Logline: A thirsty abandoned Thermal Flask desperately seeks for water as he is on the verge of dehydration, until he miraculously finds a healthy round cactus, but the cactus is very unwilling to share his stored water.

The scorching sun sets upon the Thermal Flask’s desperation to find water in the heat of the desert. The desperate Thermal Flask approaches the Cactus, but the Cactus selfishly turns his back, crossing his arms. The Thermal Flask tries to face the Cactus and ask again, but the Cactus does not budge. However, Thermal Flask begins to tell Cactus about his background before ending up mysteriously in the desert, then points out the nature that lies around them.

Tumbleweeds pass by, this time the Thermal Flask gives Cactus a funny smirk, then opens its cap. Cactus hesitates, then finally takes its cap off to release water into Thermal Flask’s storage. The Thermal Flask hops away, continuing his journey, while the Cactus watches in the distance, giving a heartwarming smile. 

Beat Sheet:

• Opening Image/Setting: The scorching sun sets upon the Thermal Flask’s desperation to find water in the heat of the desert. 

• The Catalyst: The Thermal Flask approaches the Cactus and kindly asks for water, but the Cactus selfishly turns his back, crossing his arms. 

• The Mid-point/Rising Action: The Thermal Flask begins to tell Cactus about his background before ending up mysteriously in the desert, then points out the nature that lies around them.

• Break Into Three/Finale: As the Thermal Flask politely asks again, Cactus hesitates, then finally takes its cap off to release water into Thermal Flask’s storage. 

• Final Image: The Thermal Flask hops away, continuing his journey, while the Cactus watches in the distance, giving a heartwarming smile. 

Character Construction

My character is called Drippy the Thermal Flask. He has a rounded, tall, slim body shaped around a cylinder. His appearance is meant to be friendly and approachable, leaning towards the supportive type role. The eyes and mouth are shaped as teardrops that evoke emotions through interactions. Since Drippy is a Thermal Flask, he prefers no clothing, the bottom holster is his only exception. His tall cylinder shaped structure is rough and durable, making him long lasting. Drippy’s main purpose is to provide others with necessary essentials to get about their day. It can be storage such as water or anything that can be kept hot or cold. Drippy is a curious yet playful character. The sharp angles on the outlines of the eyes portray compassion and determination to keep the boat flowing. This emotional driven character will stick by your side when times are much needed. 

I want to be able to show the audience that Drippy can be a trustworthy companion to talk to. Anyone who interacts with Drippy can expect a generally optimistic and friendly sense in place. When times are rough, this character will show its support by engaging meaningful emotional care, and high spirits of motivation. Drippy is there night and day for anyone’s basic needs, and will comfort your hot or cold. -CharConstruction_Celeste_Alexander
